Trump Criticizes Haley's Primary Strategy Amid New Hampshire Victory

In 2016, Donald Trump secured victory in the New Hampshire Republican Party primary through robust backing from both registered Republican voters and undeclared voters. According to New Hampshire law, these undeclared voters, often referred to as independents, are permitted to participate in the GOP primary.

However, Trump expressed strong displeasure when his remaining GOP competitor, former UN ambassador Nikki Haley, adopted a strategy reminiscent of his own 2016 campaign. Just minutes before the polls closed in the state, Trump took to Truth Social to criticize Haley for attempting to appeal to both Republicans and independents.

He asserted on the platform, "SO RIDICULOUS THAT DEMOCRATS AND INDEPENDENTS ARE ALLOWED TO VOTE IN THE REPUBLICAN PRIMARY, ESPECIALLY SINCE CROOKED JOE BIDEN HAS ABANDONED NEW HAMPSHIRE— BUT WORD IS WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL!!!"

In another post, Trump compared his poll numbers against President Joe Biden to Haley's, claiming a significant advantage. "I GET MUCH BETTER POLL NUMBERS AGAINST BIDEN THAN NIKKI HALEY, NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!" he emphasized.

Recent state and national polls have often depicted neck-and-neck matchups or slight leads for either candidate in contests between Biden and Trump. However, when pitted against Haley, Biden frequently garners stronger support, primarily due to her more substantial backing among independents compared to the former president.

Following his triumph in the New Hampshire primary on Tuesday night, Trump continued his verbal assault on Haley, labeling her an "imposter." With 92% of all votes tallied, Trump maintains an 11-point lead over Haley.

In an effort to decisively outperform Haley in the primary and potentially force her out of the race, Trump aimed for a significant margin of victory on Tuesday.
