Owaisi Takes Aim at Azharuddin, Dismisses Congress and Predicts BRS Victory in Telangana

As the political heat rises in the run-up to the Telangana Assembly elections, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has aimed his verbal volleys at Congress candidate and former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin, branding him as an "unsuccessful politician."

Addressing the media in Hyderabad, the Lok Sabha MP didn't mince words, stating, "I'll tell you that the Congress candidate (Azharuddin) is an unsuccessful politician. Moradabad is one of the prestigious seats in UP. He got votes there, but he did not do anything for the constituency. He did not even look back and see."

Owaisi further criticized Azharuddin's political ventures, highlighting his unsuccessful stint in Rajasthan. "He unsuccessfully contested in Rajasthan but did not bother to take care of his constituency there too," Owaisi added.

Referring to criminal cases against Azharuddin related to alleged corruption in the Hyderabad Cricket Association during his tenure, Owaisi took a swipe, saying, "He is not a serious politician...he is a good cricketer. He scored three centuries after making his debut."

Responding to questions about fielding a Muslim candidate against Azharuddin in Jubilee Hills, Owaisi pointed to the common occurrence of contests between candidates of the same caste in various segments of the state.

Owaisi dismissed the possibility of a hung assembly in Telangana, confidently asserting that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao-led BRS (Bharatiya Raita Samithi) would return to power in the state.

The AIMIM leader didn't spare Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy either, alleging RSS roots and claiming that Gandhi Bhavan is 'remotely controlled by Mohan Bhagwat.'

Refuting allegations of a tacit understanding between BJP and BRS, Owaisi questioned why Chandrasekhar Rao would have spent Rs 12,000 crore towards minority development in the past decade if there was an understanding between the two parties.

In a sharp critique of Congress, Owaisi claimed that the party's history is fraught with communal riots, accusing them of being responsible for the deaths of people from both Hindu and Muslim communities in various instances of violence.
